Staggeringly beautiful mountains
Lech am Arlberg belongs to the Best of the Alps club of the top twelve ski areas in the Alps. Lech is located at 1,450 meters above sea level near the source of the Lech River, surrounded by an impressive mountain range. The village is not only one of the best winter sports resorts in the world. It also has preserved its unique character.
A 600-year-old church with an onion dome marks the center of the village. Around the church, the 1,500 inhabitants of Lech have their houses next to the hotels, the shops and restaurants. Although Lech is a world-famous winter sports resort, it has still managed to remain cozy and homey. Visitors can relax and engage in a variety of sports and cultural activities – in winter and in summer.
Lech was voted as “the most beautiful village in Europe” in 2004. Two other places in the Arlberg Mountain Region have already been named the most beautiful places in Austria: the Lake Formarin and the Lake Körber.
